My current role
In my academic role, I lead a research team focusing on ParkinsonÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ disease. I run the Cambridge ParkinsonÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Disease Research Clinic as well as long-term community-based studies through which we investigate the variability of Parkinson's disease over time. We use genetic, biofluid and brain imaging markers to better understand, predict and track disease progression. My team also works on clinical trials of new therapies which aim to slow the progression of Parkinson's.
In my ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ role, I see people with a range of neurological conditions in addition to Parkinson's disease. I run a neurology outreach clinic at Newmarket community hospital.
Previous history
I studied medicine at Cambridge University and Oxford Clinical School, graduating in 2001, and then gained my PhD from Cambridge University in 2008. I trained in neurology in Cambridge, Norwich and Queen Square, London and completed my specialist training in 2015. I was a clinical lecturer in neurology in Cambridge until 2018, and then completed a 5 year MRC clinician scientist fellowship. I am now an academic consultant dividing my time between research work in the University and my ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ role.
